Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.
Fans can expect discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
