'People are fearful' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal stand as countless pundits' favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Consider their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have overcome all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to at last realize their title goal.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), shots let in (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the strongest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but rival sides still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these situations.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Claims

What is even more remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having invested around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far yielded results in remarkable manner, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have labeled Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and determination.
